BITE TIMES

Maximising your time on the water Game Fishing in areas that hold bait and the Pelagics that we chase can come down to the Bite time.
We all know that there are times when the bite occurs when it seems everyone is hooking up and being in the right areas when this happens can make all the difference.
Here is a formula that I developed through logging bite times through the use of tide height data.
This is only a general bite time indicator which works around the Tide change in your area.

This is a screen shot of a high tide of Russel in the Bay Of Islands. I have clicked on the tide change before the slack, the slack is actually 2.53m.
Now use a calculator and punch in 2.51 x 0.86 you should get 2.15

Now move your coursor down to 2.15 on the graph, and there you have an area in the tide which is 7.50am. general rule would be to work this tide time 1/2 hour either side.

Here is the same tide shot after the high tide.

Low tide formula is a bit different. Here low tide is at 0.43m remember this is just before slack at 0.44m.
This is the formula I use 0.43x 0.86 = 0.36 (0.36+0.43 = 0.79)
BITE TIME IS 0.79

Before low 0.79 = 1.58pm

After low is 0.79 = 5.24pm

These are general bite times only, I hope this helps thanks to   http://ofu.co.nz/graph/tides.php  Tide graphs for the use of there Web shots.
