I would like to thank Paul Crichton from OceanSST for all his help.
Josh and I left Mexico for Portugal and after 24 hours of travelling, jet lagged and then realized all our bags had gone missing with all our Lures, equipment, tags lines etc and to make matter worse the weather was not good leading up to the tournament, luckily our gear turned up the evening before the tournament and we managed to get a half day of fishing and get use to the old boat again. With our preparations not exactly going smoothly Pauls info and SST charts were enough to give us some confidence.
After day one we were placed first equal with one release then on the morning of the second day we nailed a nice Blue around 275kgs to take out the Villamoura White and Blue marlin tournament.
Thanks Paul for all your help, the fishing was slow and water patchily you kept us in the good water to get the only Blue of the tournament, cheers.
We have been invited to go and fish in the Azores for the next few days and then get back and prepare for our last and bigger tournament in Portimoa, Portugal.
The fishing here is amazing, big blues averaging 250kg’s plus and a lot of White Marlin to fill in time between the Blues, local are saying the bite is slow at the moment so hopefully it goes off next week on our return and very keen to see some more Blues.
Everyone has been so helpful here and to get invited to fish in the Azores is just amazing and a real high light of the trip so far.
Over the next few weeks we will post some photos then it is back to Mexico to prepare for Cabo San Lucas.
Cheers from Portugal
